Basic Registration is rejected during platform onboarding for food delivery operators. Apply for State License if you plan to list on any delivery platform.
FSSAI food licensing in Tamil Nadu is administered through the Tamil Nadu Food Safety Department. The FSSAI South Zone office covering Tamil Nadu is headquartered in Chennai. For Coimbatore district businesses, the approving authority is the District Designated Officer (DDO) under the Coimbatore Collectorate jurisdiction. State License applications are processed via the FoSCoS portal and routed to the district-level DDO for physical inspection — required before a State License is issued.
Common inspection items the Coimbatore DDO checks: kitchen hygiene and handwashing facilities, pest control records, at least one employee holding an FSMS Level 3 Food Safety Supervisor certificate, and valid source documents for raw materials. Businesses in industrial estates (Peelamedu, Kurichi, Ganapathy) that combine food manufacturing with other operations sometimes face additional scrutiny on waste disposal and storage separation.
